Brightly colored and wonderfully illustrated, you'll find this book both engrossing because of the information and as addictive as coffee itself! KJV American Patriot's Bible

The American Patriot's Bible, KJV
The Word of God and the Shaping of America
By Dr. Richard Lee
Format: Hardcover
Edging: White
Trim Size: 7.30 x 9.40 x 1.80
Page Count: 1640
Retail Price: $44.99
ISBN: 9781418548919

This beautiful Bible can be purchased from Thomas Nelson or Christianbook.com

My Thoughts:

My first impression of "The American Patriot's Bible" was how well constructed and beautiful it is. The hard binding is nice and tight and lays flat making it easy to read. In the beginning is an illustrated presentation plate and numerous pages for your family records, ie: husband and wife family tree, children, grandchildren, church and service records, deaths, and even a place for special family history and ancestors of interest. Also included is a map of the United States, a chart when the states were added and the Seven Principals of Judeo-Christian Ethic (which our forefathers followed).

There is so much to love about this Bible. It is not only beautiful to look at, but full of information that made our United States a great nation. There are full color pages that highlight important parts of US history and throughout the Bible are many famous people who were important to making the United States a great nation. There were many moving articles, but one sticks out for me:  the founder of the Hilton Hotel chain had a prayer printed in many well known magazines on July 4, 1952 -this  prayer is included in its entirety.

This is the King James Version (KJV) and is one that every American would be proud to have in their Christian library. Because of its beauty and theme, this is perfect for gift-giving and would make a wonderful gift for those who are serving or have served in the armed forces. It would also be a wonderful gift for that favorite history student or teacher.

About This Bible:

The Qur'an Dilemma - Glass Road PR Tour

The Qur'an Dilemma (English version) Volume 1
Authors: Former Muslims and professional Islamic scholars
Publisher: Water Life Publishing
ISBN: 9781935577034

A book of terror or a book of peace? An inspired text or a political agenda? How is one to know the truth about the Qur'an? Where does one even begin? How can an English speaker ever hope to wade through the history, the translations, the sects, and the commentaries to begin making sense of the issues?

During the last decade, interest in Islam and the teachings of the Qur'an has grown globally. In order to allow Westerners to investigate the truth about Islam, this research text was translated from Arabic to give English speaking readers the opportunity to see the Qur’an with clear lenses that are not fogged by propaganda or missionary zeal. This book provides the background of the Qur'an in an objective manner . It also presents the text of the Qur’an with parallel commentary, addressing important issues that Muslim scholars have wrestled with throughout the centuries, shedding light on their attempts to solve them and giving a rounded view of the various schools of thought.

The critical approach in this book is inspired by the courageous tradition of those who have dared to analyze the Qur'an throughout history, while also incorporating the contemporary intellectual productions available in Arabic and foreign sources. The discoveries made through these scholarly critical methods are directed to non-Muslims and Muslims equally:

To non-Muslims who want to unravel the mysteries of Islam, this book presents information that Islamic resources rarely disclose--to allow those who seek the truth to comprehend the full picture with all its outlines, colors, and dimensions.

To Muslims who seek genuine choices far from the culture of “indoctrination,” this book opens a world of understanding to them, so that they can decide for themselves their intellectual and spiritual paths.
The Quran Dilemma (Volume One) – available now both in English and in Arabic - covers the first nine suras (chapters) of the Quran.  The remaining suras will be covered in Volume Two, due for release in 2011.  Articles and commentary found throughout this masterfully executed book – which explain and analyze each sura - are based on authoritative Islamic sources.

My Thoughts

First, I must comment on the physical appearance of this volume. When I removed "The Qur'an Dilemma" from the package, I was struck by its beauty. This burgundy and gold hardcover gives a hint of what it holds inside. The artwork on each page plus that found between each sura is no less than stunning. This makes this volume not only a wonderful resource, but a beautiful gift for anyone who is interested in world religions or Muslim teachings.

This is far from a light read, and although I read through it quickly the first time to finish for the tour, but I will admit I am reading it again slowly because of how the book is written. I missed so much the first time through! This is a book that is written for the scholar, but at the same time, for someone who just wants to study and learn more about the Qur'an and its teachings.

I was very, very surprised with what I was taught the Qur'an held, and what it actually there. I was taught that it was a peaceful teaching, but what I'm finding is something different. My heart broke when I read about the belief towards women and to learn that one that follows the teachings is not even allowed to befriend someone of a different faith!

I cannot even begin to cover what I have learned so far, and I'm looking forward to finishing the book and getting the other volumes. "The Qur'an Dilemma" is nothing less than amazing and to have a translation in my hands that I can read and understand makes me aware of how much I do not know. Like those who hear about a book and do not read it, one really never knows what is held in those pages but can only rely on others to tell the truth.

This volume is an eye-opener and one that should be considered to be added to every Christian's library.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

My Thoughts:

There is really no other word to describe this story Bible than precious. Unlike many of the other baby's Bibles I have seen, this one is to be used, read to, and understood by your sweet baby as he/she grows up. The illustrations are beautifully done, and will hold your little one's interest as you read the simple prose of some of our most beloved Bible stories.

As your baby grows older, it can be used as their own book to read from, something like "The Beginner's Bible". This is a book that will be used for many years, and will be well loved.

The padded cover makes a comfortable book to hold and to easy to wipe little fingerprints from. This is a wonderful first book to add to your child's library or would make a wonderful gift for the new/expecting parent. Truly this is something that will make a treasured and well used gift!

" The Treasure of God's Word" - Review

The Treasure of God's Word
Celebrating 400 Years of the Kings James Bible
Compiled by Jack Countryman
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
ISBN: 9781404189768
Genre: Religion, Christian Life, Inspirational

When I removed this book from the packaging, I was in awe with how beautiful it was! The cover is a faux burgundy leather with tooling and gold embossed letters and stitching around the edge of the cover. The pages are printed with brown ink on a brownish faux "antique looking paper" with edges that have gold guilding (like a bible). The whole effect is one of richness.

The book itself contains history of the King James Bible and include pictures of what the bible once looked like. After the history, the book is divided into sections which contain verses that match the sections:  God's Hope, God's Love, etc. There are also parts that include changes that occurred with the times.

This is a gorgeous book that would be perfect for gift giving - a nice inexpensive yet very rich looking addition to anyone's collection. With that said, I was disappointed in the contents of the book. With the description, I was looking for whole pages replicated from the original KJV, but instead was supplied with small graphics of them. I had expected with a 400th Anniversary edition, that there would be a lot more history of the KJV, and not a glorified gift book of verses with some history thrown in.

This book was supplied by the Book Sneeze Program for me to honestly review.
