Once Upon a Time Read-a-Thon Wrap Up

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

When I signed up for this Read-a-Thon I was sure I would have time get a few books out of the way and a lot of time to read. I mean, hey, the kids are working and I am home alone all day, so what could interrupt all that great reading time?!

Well, a couple of surprise visitors really took a huge chunk out of my time, and then there were a few things that popped up that needed taken care of. Oh man - I had to kiss all those hours good-bye.

What did I learn? The next read-a-thon that I participate in will be done from a hotel room with room service, no phone, and sound-proof walls! :)

My accomplishments are meager:

448 pages

288 pages

a mere 51 pages

For a grand total of:
787 pages... sigh....

Still in all, I had a great time and finished a couple of books that have been on my TBR pile for a long, long time!!

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon Update

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

It is already day two of the Read-a-Thon. Time does fly when you are reading a good book! Unfortunately, I didn't get as much time to read yesterday as I wanted, so my progress report isn't impressive by any means.

I did finish Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and am now reading "Dracula in Love" by Karen Essex. I loved Stoker's novel, feeling the ending was justified. Going from that to Essex's novel... all I can say is WOW! I can't wait to get back reading it.

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon Mini Challenge

One of the requirements for participating in the Read-a-Thon is to take part in the mini-challenges. It's a nice fun  change from reading. Here's todays questions from IB Book Blogging

Mini Challenge Question 1:
What is your favorite type of myth (Greek, Roman, Egyptian etc)?

My favorites have to be Celtic and Greek.

Mini Challenge Question 2:
What is your favorite book with some type of mythology in it?

The Harry Potter Series.

The second mini challenge is much harder - but still a whole lot of fun. It can be found at The Musings of ALMYBNENR

Once Upon A Read-A-Thon Progress

This is just a quick check in while I take a break and get some lunch. I hope everyone is having as good of a time with this Read-a-Thon as I am. What a wonderful excuse to catch up on some much needed (and much wanted) reading!

I'm about 75% done with "Dracula" by Bram Stoker, and am really, really enjoying this classic! I wonder why I put off reading this book for so long.

I'm using the Barnes & Noble Classic Series in nook format, and it makes it a breeze to look up words and footnotes. I think I'm using those resources more because they are so easy to use.

Well, off to read again. I must find out what the Count is up to :)

Read-A-Thon... Are You Joining In?

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

Tomorrow starts the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon hosted by Candace's Book Blog, Lori at Pure Imagination, and Angela at Reading Angel! They have teamed up with some authors and will be giving out some wonderful prizes, so if you haven't signed up yet, hurry and do so now. Time is running out as the Read-a-Thon starts at 12:01am July 11th - that's just a few hours away!

I'm joining in, as I need to slow down and get some real reading time in. I want to finish "Dracula" by Bram Stoker and then devour "Dracula In Love" by Karen Essex. Both are somewhat long and in smaller print, so they will definitely take up most of the time I have to invest in the next 3 days, if not all.

I hope you will consider signing up and joining in on the fun. Between all the great prizes, and just getting a book or two of your "must reads" pile - the only thing you have to lose is time between the pages of a good book!
