An Invitation To Read With Me

Last night, I opened my Bible to read, and realized that it's been a while since I've done any reading with purpose. Lately, it's been just devotional reading because I've been reviewing devotionals and have been lax on  any in-depth reading.

I have decided it's time to read through my Bible again. It's been a long time since I've read it from beginning to end. So, last night, I pulled my schedule out and started in Genesis. Since it's only mid-January, it will be easy to play catch-up. If you would like to join me in reading the Bible through from beginning to end, you can find a couple of nice schedules here:

I am using one that was given to me years ago, and it is based on the average of 85 verses a day.

My schedule for January:

1/1 - Genesis 1-3
1/2 - Genesis 4-7
1/3 - Genesis 8-10
1/4 - Genesis 11-14
1/5 - Genesis 15-17
1/6 - Genesis 18-20
1/7 - Genesis 21-23
1/8 - Genesis 24-25

1/10 - Genesis 28-30
1/11 - Genesis 31-32
1/12 - Genesis 33-35
1/13 - Genesis 36-37
1/14 - Genesis 38-40
1/15 - Genesis 41-42
1/16 - Genesis 43-44
1/17 - Genesis 45-47
1/18 - Genesis 48-50
1/19 - Exodus 1-4
1/20 - Exodus 5-7
1/21 - Exodus 8-10
1/22 - Exodus 11-13
1/23 - Exodus 14-16
1/24 - Exodus 17-19
1/25 - Exodus 20-22
1/26 - Exodus 23-25
1/27 - Exodus 26-27
1/28 - Exodus 28-29
1/29 - Exodus 30-32
1/30 - Exodus 33-35

With Genesis being quite an easy book to read, catching up should be easy and doable by the end of the month. I will be starting with Genesis 6 tonight. Want to join me?

  1. I did this same Bible reading schedule -- or something very similar to it -- the year before last. I really liked reading straight through the Bible instead of using some other schedules which break up your readings into OT/NT/Psalms/Proverbs. Last year, without a reading schedule, my Bible reading didn't happen very often. I think I will join you in your read-a-long. At least January's only half over, right? :-)

  2. Hi Rosanne! I am looking forward to reading with you. Every time I read through I find something new. I do know what you mean about the other schedules. I haven't made it through one yet. I don't like all the jumping around.

I really should have thought of this before, but better late than never, right? :)
